Be Prepared: Medicaid Managed Care Is Coming to Iowa

The Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS) released a Request for Proposal (RFP) for Iowa’s Medicaid Modernization on February 16, 2015 and a revised RFP on March 26, 2016.   Contracts will be awarded to two to four managed care companies by July 31, 2016.   Managed care will be effective on January 1, 2016.    Below are materials and resources for individuals with disabilities and/or mental illness, their families and guardians, advocates and others to better understand how Iowa’s Medicaid system is being transformed and how to advocate for a system that better serves Iowa Iowans with disabilities and/or mental illness. Make sure to check back for additional resources as Iowa moves closer to the transition.
