Amber Wallingford

A young white person with blonde curly hair pushed out of their face stands in front of some plants. They are wearing round plastic glasses and a black shirt. They are smiling wide.

Intake Specialist

Graduating from the University of Northern Iowa in 2012 with their Bachelor’s in Family Services with a Gender Studies Minor, and completing their Master’s of Social Work in 2023 from UNI. Amber prides themselves on being a safe space for those struggling to have their voices heard.  They currently reside in Des Moines, where they have lived for over 10 years. In their free time, they love exploring new places to eat with their wife and attending live music events. At home, they have three cats (Harry, Rainey, and JoJo) whom they adore and spoil. Amber hopes their time at DRI will result in a deeper understanding of the intersectionality of disability facing Iowans as well as being able to contribute to an effort that affects those they care about.
