Defend Your Individual Rights

Some cases arise that require more legal assistance than information or referral situations. If your issue is within our areas of focus, then a Disability Rights Iowa attorney may represent your case to find a resolution. Due to our limited funding, we cannot take on every individual case, but our goal is to help as many Iowans with disabilities as best we can.

Short-Term Advocacy

If your issue falls within our priorities and requires legal assistance, our attorneys may provide short-term legal services to resolve your issue. Short-term advocacy could involve answering legal questions, giving legal advice, and consulting with you about your legal options.

Administrative Action

As a primary step in helping individuals with disabilities, DRI first exhausts all administrative remedies before pursuing legal action. This means if issues are solvable by working with or appealing to the entity that caused the issue, we can assist you to in self advocacy. By solving problems through administrative action, DRI can help you get the solutions you need without resorting to legal action.
