Emily joined DRI in December 2015. She is a proud graduate of the University of Iowa, where she earned both her bachelor’s degree in political science, as well as her law degree. Prior to DRI Emily was a public defender in western Colorado. While her work at DRI spans everything from employment to housing, her practice primarily focuses on representing individuals with disabilities in Medicaid appeals. Emily has a passion for healthcare advocacy and prides herself on providing zealous representation for her clients who depend upon medically necessary Medicaid services. She is an active member in numerous Medicaid advocacy and policy groups. Emily is licensed to practice law in Colorado and Iowa. Outside of the office Emily enjoys traveling with her husband and spending time with their collection of rescue pets. You can often find her curled up with a cup of coffee and a library book.
