Disruption to Services
Due to interruptions in our funding at the beginning of Fiscal Year 2026 Disability Rights Iowa (DRI) has limited resources to provide services in our PADD (Protection and Advocacy for Individuals with Intellectual and Development Disabilities) program. As a result, effective June 10th, 2026, DRI will be limited in the acceptance of new cases in our PADD program. DRI will continue to prioritize work to address abuse or neglect of individuals in residential facilities or service settings under the PADD program, however we may not accept other cases under this program at this time. This measure will allow DRI to focus on current investigations and advocacy efforts already underway. In the event you have a disability-rights problem under DRI’s PADD program, DRI may only be able to provide information and referral services. DRI is continuing to review requests for assistance that meet eligibility requirements under our PAIR, PAIMI, PATBI, PABSS and PAAT grants.
We recognize the profound impact this will have on Iowans with disabilities who rely on our support. We remain committed to our mission and will continue to advocate for our funding for fiscal year 2027.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support during this challenging time.
For a list of all areas we currently take cases in please go to the “What We Do” section of our website.
DRI does not have an income limit or a language requirement to qualify for help.
