Important Notice – Disability Rights Iowa’s federal grants are at risk of reduction or elimination.
Due to the absence of federal funding appropriations for 2026, Disability Rights Iowa (DRI) is facing unprecedented funding challenges. Without 2026 federal funding, we are forced to make difficult decisions to preserve our ability to serve existing clients and maintain core operations.
DRI is continuing to review requests for assistance that meet eligibility requirements under our Federal Grants. During this time, we are considering how our current case load and capacity will impact our remaining funding before accepting new cases.
If DRI is unable to assist you due to funding, please consider contacting your members of Congress to express the importance of timely funding for disability rights programs. DRI will continue to monitor developments and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
We recognize the profound impact this will have on Iowans with disabilities who rely on our support. We remain committed to our mission and will continue to advocate for the restoration of funding and the resumption of full operations.

To request help from DRI you can call us or submit a request on our website. In person requests at DRI’s office are only available on a limited basis and must be scheduled in advance. DRI’s Intake Team does their best to answer your calls live during our business hours. If we are unable to answer your call, please leave a voicemail that includes information about when you would be available for us to return your call.
